Let's just jump into how to do a double crochet stitch.
The Basic Instructions
- Yarn over the hook.
- Insert the hook into the stitch on the row/round below the current position.
- Grab the working yarn with the hook and pull through to make another loop on the hook.
- Yarn over the hook and pull through the first 2 loops on the hook.
- Yarn over the hook and pull through the last 2 loops on the hook.
A Little More Info
When starting at the beginning of a row/round, a double crochet stitch (dc) needs 2 or 3 chains to give your row the correct height. I just started using a chainless starting double crochet for the beginning of rows, and with more practice, I feel it might give me a better/straighter edge.
